As a systems administrator/IT operator, I may find myself wondering, "Hey Red Hat, what’s going on?" or "Hey Red Hat, is it possible that service XYZ is currently down? Are there any issues that I should know about?"
Of course, I can always direct these or similar questions to my support contact, account representative, or technical account manager. But as a systems administrator/IT operator, I need a way to check the status of common Red Hat services myself.
In this article, I will cover how you can quickly and effortlessly stay up to date on the status of all of the Red Hat webpages and systems that are critical to your IT operations.
The Red Hat status page
The easiest way to stay informed in real-time is by using the Red Hat status page. Figure 1 shows the status page, where you can see the current status of Red Hat webpages, tools, and services.

The Red Hat status page allows you to check the current status of Red Hat’s services, scheduled maintenance windows, and past incidents, as you can see in Figure 2.

The status webpage allows you to check on current service status, scheduled maintenance, and past incidents, but there is more to it. You can also subscribe to different types of notifications, such as email, text message, webhook, atom, or the RSS feed. All of these options are accessible via the blue button with the text Subscribe to updates in the upper right area of the status page.
Figure 3 shows some of the configuration options you can choose when subscribing to email notifications.

This allows you to decide whether you would like to get information about all services or only the ones that are relevant to you and your work.
